Expanding Member Engagement: Special Interest Groups Go National

Networking Opportunities

Proven Success at the Chapter Level, Now Available to All Members

After six months of strong attendance and meaningful engagement at the Chapter level, the Private Directors Association is excited to announce that three highly successful Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are now extending their reach to members nationwide.

These groups have developed a strong cadence, consistent participation, and valuable discussions that address the most pressing topics facing private company directors today. Now, every PDA member can benefit from the expertise, insights, and networking these sessions provide.

Three SIGs, Three Critical Focus Areas

Life Science & Healthcare Special Interest Group

  • When: 3rd Friday of each month, 10:00 AM–11:00 AM
  • Led by: Todd Zive

The healthcare industry presents unique governance challenges for private company boards—from regulatory compliance and reimbursement models to technology integration and patient outcomes. This SIG brings together directors with healthcare expertise and those seeking to deepen their understanding of this complex, rapidly evolving sector.

Whether you’re currently serving on a healthcare company board or exploring opportunities in the space, this group offers a forum to share best practices, discuss emerging trends, and build relationships with fellow directors navigating similar challenges.

AI Focus SIG #1: Open Discussion on AI

  • When: 1st Monday of each month, 2:00–3:00 PM (except holidays)
  • Led by: Brian Iinuma and Philip Topham

Strategic Sessions: Explore the critical AI topics that matter most to boardrooms and executive leadership. These discussions will help you assess AI’s impact on strategy, governance, and long-term value creation.

Artificial intelligence is transforming every industry, and boards must understand both the opportunities and risks AI presents. This open discussion forum provides a space for directors to explore how AI is reshaping business models, operational efficiency, competitive positioning, and governance itself. From strategic AI adoption to ethical considerations and board oversight responsibilities, these monthly conversations help directors stay informed and prepared to guide their companies through the AI revolution.

AI Focus SIG #2: Challenges With AI & Tools

  • When: 3rd Monday of each month, 2:00–3:00 PM (except holidays)
  • Led by: Brian Iinuma and Philip Topham

Hands-On Sessions: Gain practical knowledge and develop your AI skills through guided demos and tool exploration, empowering you to integrate AI insights directly into your business or governance practices.

While AI offers tremendous potential, implementation comes with real challenges. This SIG takes a practical, solutions-oriented approach to the obstacles boards and management teams face when integrating AI tools and technologies. Discussions cover topics like vendor selection, data privacy and security, workforce implications, ROI measurement, and risk mitigation. Members share real-world experiences, lessons learned, and actionable strategies for overcoming common AI implementation hurdles.
